Happy Birthday

Today is a special day at Treasures of Africa Children's Home. Today is Justice's 3rd birthday. I remember the day Justice(whose nickname here is JuJuBe after the American candy) came to our orphanage. He came straight from the hospital and he was almost 4 months old. His mother had died shortly after giving birth to him. She had AIDS and we soon found out that Justice was infected with HIV as well. This was heartbreaking news. If an infant who has HIV is not treated, they usually die within the first year or two of life. So it was important to begin taking him to the local hospital to their HIV clinic to be monitored and treated. Now Justice is doing very well. Although he is small for his age, he is rarely sick and is very active and energetic. It has been a delight to watch him these last 3 years. He is so cute and so funny. He has a little dance that i call "the JuJu dance". He bounces up and down while swinging his right arm back and forth. He is just adorable and a delight to us all. It is a special victory to see a child with HIV celebrate another birthday. We are praising the Lord for this and continuing to pray and believe God for a miracle for JuJu. Please keep beleiving with us!

back to blogging!

Hey everyone,
It's been a loooooong time since i've written a blog! After reading some blogs by some new friends, it inspired me to get back in the saddle. It's good to share what God is doing at Treasures of Africa Children's Home and talk about our amazing kids.
This month marks our 3 year anniversary of taking in children. The first children we took in were Sifaeli, Fatuma, Glory and Helena on March 21, 2007. I still remember the day we picked them up. I couldn't believe that God was actually bringing to pass a dream He had put in my heart years before of caring for orphaned children. Be encouraged that if God promises something and you haven't seen it come to pass yet, HE WILL DO IT! Our part is just to enjoy the journey and learn the lessons He has planned for us along the way. And when it does come to pass, you will understand why God made you wait!
I am in awe of God when i look at the children every day and see how they've grown, physically, intellectually, and spiritually. It is so cool to see God's plan unfold in their lives. These kids really love God and they are examples to me in their passion and devotion and simple, child-like faith.
So i just wanted to post this blog to thank God for an amazing 3 years so far. It has been a challenge for sure, but the victories definitely outweigh the hardships.
Thanks to everyone who has been praying for us and supporting us financially. I am here and i can say that it has truly made a huge difference in the lives of these children.
God bless you!
Jodie
